C ‘est un Véhicule transporteur de troupes dérivé du Centauro avec la même tourelle que celle qui équipe le Dardo( tourelle Oto Melara HITFIST 25 plus ) Il peut aussi transporter 8 fantassins entièrement équipés.
Historique
La genèse de ce nouvel engin de combat de l EI doit être recherché dans le Centauro
En 1998 il fut émis la fiche programme d’un engin blindé capable de transporter des fantassins sur le champ de bataille et doit remplacer a terme les M113 vieillissants
Le prototype fut livré en 2002 et la production commença en 2006
249 vehicules ont été prévues en diverses versions (172 version de base 36 en version antichars 20 en version commandement et 21 en version porte mortier . Ils doivent être livrés en 2014 Sil est prevu aussi des versions ambulance et génie
Actuellement (août 2008)seulement 54 vehicules ont été commandés don t 50 en version de base avec la tourelle gyrostabilisée Oto Melara HITFIST 25 plus, avec canon KBA BO2 da 25/80 mm chambré pour la cartouche 25x137 standard NATO plus une MG coaxiale da 7,62 mm) un en version Anti char avec la même tourelle mais possédant 2 missiles anti char Rafael Spike LR), 2 in version Commandement et une en version mortier ( mortier TDA 2R2M da 120 mm).
