Cette médaille est une médaille non officielle dans le Regio Esercito bien que validée par le Comando Superiore delle Forze Armate della Libia, alors qu elle a été reconnue offcielle dans la Whermacht
Elle a été accordée à tout soldat italien ou allemand ayant combattu en Afrique du Nord entre 1940 1943 . Apres la guerre la version italienne épurée (sans les Symboles fascite et naz )i fut fabriquée
La médaille est constituée d'un disque de 31 mm de diamêtre qui represente sur l 'avers 2 soldats ( italien et allemand) fermant la guelle d'un crocodile représentanl l'Angleterre
Sur le coté nous trouvont le nom du Fabricant Lorioli Milano et du Graveur De Marchi

Sur le reveurs nous trouvons gravé l'Arc des Fileni encadré d'un Fascio et d'une Croix Gammée . Il y a aussi 2 inscriptions en Italien et en Allemand CAMPAGNA ITALO-TEDESCA IN AFRICA" et "ITALIENISCH-DEUTSCHER FELDZUG IN AFRIKA
Le ruban est pour la version italienne Vert Blanc Rouge Blanc Noir et pour la version Allemande Noir Blanc Rouge Blanc
