Il a été fabriqué en Juin 1943 à l'usine de Hagerstown par Fairchild Engine & Airplane Corporation en tant que UC-61A Forwaeder . (Fairchild 24W-41A - RAF Argus 2).
512 de ce modèle ont été construits, et 145 ont été affectés à l'USAAF son propre usage; D'autres seront livrés à la Grande-Bretagne au titre du  prêt-bail, où ils furent principalement utilisés par les transports aériens auxiliaired et par les pilotes de convoyage.
Le 22 Juin 1943, il a été livré à l'USAAF et expédié au Royaume-Uni le 29 Juin 1943 via Brooklyn,
Il a été utilisé pendant la 2e guerre comme un avion pirate par 8th  Air force  et fit parti des excendent à la fin de celle ci.
Le 18 Décembre 1946, il a été enregistré comme G-Aize. et demilitarisé par London Aero & Services Motors à Elstree aérodrome,
Il a fait son premier vol civil pour Van Leer castings Die Auto Ltd de Lympne sur la  ligne le Touquet Paris
En Septembre 1948, il a été endommagé à Fiumicino
Il apparait aussi dans le film L'histoire de Glenn Miller », où il reçoit une couleur USAAF avec son G-Aize
En Juin 1961 après une période de désuétude, l'avion a été démonté pour le stockage
En Mars 1963, il chnage de propriétaire.
Le 6 août 1966, son certificat  de navigabilité expiré il est  stocké à l'atelier de Roy Mills à Hanwell
En Février 1973, il est acheté avec les pièces de rechange par le musée de la RAF
Le 21 Octobre 1997, il arrive à Rochester Airport, dans le Kent pour la restauration de 2 ans
Les pièces manquantes ont été refaire et  l'intérieur du cockpit a totalement été reconstruit.
L'avion a été restauré aux couleurs SEAC avec le serial FS628 .( cela correspont à l'un des 161 avions  Argus II  livrés à la RAF entre Mars 1943 et Février 1944)
Il arrive au Msée Cosford le 5 Juin  1999 pout ètre exposé

He was manufactured in June 1943 at Hagerstown factory by Fairchild Engine & Airplane Corporation as a UC-61A Forwarder. (Fairchild 24W-41A - RAF Argus 2).
512 of this model were built, of which the USAAF retained 148 for its own use, others going to Britain on Lend-Lease where they were mainly used by the Air Transport Auxiliary for ferry pilot duties.
On June 22nd 1943 he was delivered to USAAF an shipped to UK on June 29th 1943 via Brooklyn,
He was used that during the war years as a hack aircraft by the US 8th Air Force and rendered surplus at the end of the war.
On December 18th 1946 he was registered as G-AIZE. and civilianized by London Aero & Motor Services at Elstree Aerodrome,
He made its first civilian flight for Van Leer Auto Die castings Ltd from Lympne to Le Touquet Paris,
On September 1948 he was damaged in Fiumicino
He fly also for the Movie The Glenn Miller Story’ where he receive an USAAF colours and the immatriculation G-AIZE
In June 1961 after a period of disuse the aircraft was dismantled for storage
In March 1963 he was purchased from Doug Bianchi of Personal Plane Services by Roy Mills.
On August 6th 1966 his certificate expired and he was stored at Roy Mills’ workshop at Hanwell
In February 1973 he was purchased with spares by the RAF Museum
On October 21st 1997 he reached to Rochester Airport, Kent for restoration for 2 years
Missing parts were sourced or copies made and the whole of the cockpit interior totally rebuilt . The aircraft was restored to military configuration in SEAC markings with the serial FS628. Who was one of 161 Argus II aircraft delivered to the RAF between March 1943 and February 1944; He was delivered to RAF Museum Cosford on 5 June 1999 and display at the Museum
