Luftmine
Initialement destinés à être utilisé comme des mines marines ces mines Luftmine A (LMA) de 500kg et Luftmine B (LMB) de 1000 kg, à partir de Heinkel He 115 furent utilisées par les allemands comme «mines terrestres» à compter du 16 Septembre 1940.
A l’origine les LMA 500 de 1.78 m et la LMA 1000 de 2.6m avaient un détonateur magnétique pour une utilisation maritime
Par contre pour une utilisations à terre il y avait un système d’horlogerie
un fusible d'horlogerie déclenché les mines terrestres.
La luftmine avait une charge explosive d'entre 60% et 70% et en utilisation terrestre faisait beaucoup de dégâts
Lors de l’utilisation maritime elle était ralentie par un parachute en soie artificielle verte
Il pouvait y avoir deux autres types de parachutes de couleur kaki,
Sans le parachute ces LMA n'auraient t pas résisté à l'impact à l'atterrissage . (17m/s ou 70 km/h)
Luftmine
Originally meant for use as sea mines and known to the Germans as Luftmine A (LMA) of 500kg and Luftmine B (LMB) of 1000kg they were known to the British public as 'land mines'. Basically there were only two sizes, 500kg, which was 1.7m long and 1000kg, which was 2.8 m long and were triggered magnetically at sea, a clockwork fuse triggered the mine on land. They were first dropped in our coastal waters by Heinkel He 115 seaplanes flying at 900', in November 1939, and first employed intentionally against land targets on 16th September 1940. The luftmine had an explosive filling of between 60% and 70% and was capable of creating a lot of blast damage.
The parachute was made of sea-green artificial silk and was about 0.65cm in diameter, secured by eighteen thick silk cords. There were two other types of parachute made up of 0.60 cm wide khaki coloured silk ribbons woven together or secured in circular patterns to form the desired shape, they fell at a rate of 40mph. Without the parachute the mines would not have withstood the landing impact (17m/s or 70km/h)
