For the first time GDELS showed the brand new EAGLE 6x6 to the public. The 6x6 (GVW 15,000 kg) completes the MOWAG family system with the EAGLE 4x4 (also known as EAGLE V – GVW 10,000kg), EAGLE IV (GVW 9,000kg) and DURO (GVW 14,000kg).
There chassis have a logistical commonality of the components of up to 70%. The transmission system is decupled from the engine. There are 4-7 different configuration planned for the 6x6 – for example APC (payload of 5,000 kg), crew cab (payl. 7,200 kg), utility (payl. 7,500 kg) or medical vehicle with different engines setups available (250 hp – 300 hp).

The Chassis is completed by a modular protection system, with all seats and equipment uncoupled and an add-on ballistic protection – that can be chosen by the customer. Other options are a remote weapon station or RPG-cage. The 6x6 has a max. speed of 110 km/h, range of 650 km, turning diameter of 16.0 m and step climbing of 0.4 m. The unique De-Dion suspension provides large axle articulation when off-road and act as a roll-stabilizer. The 70% commonality of the components should result in low support and life time costs. The 6x6 development was based on market requirements (payload and volume) from Germany, France and other countries. It offers simple but good handling solutions like the big back door. Instead of using cylinders it has a simple cable solution that can easily be repaired. The big door allows entering or reentering quickly or load wounded inside without problems and delays. The vehicle is prepared for a medical role with stretchers. It offers a huge volume inside with one cabin that includes the driving and back compartment as one.Mowag Eagle 6x6 Eurosatory 2012
